- Eau : Température 22-28 °C, pH 6.0-7.5, GH 4-20 °dGH, nitrates <50 mg/L.
- Aquarium : Minimum 80 L pour 1-2 individus, 150 L+ pour un groupe.
- Vie sociale : Paisible mais territorial entre mâles. Maintenir 1 mâle avec 1-2 femelles ou en groupe avec espace suffisant. Compatible avec poissons non agressifs (tétras, corydoras, rasboras). Éviter poissons de fond concurrents.
- Nourriture : Omnivore, alguivore. Bois flotté pour fibres, pastilles de fond, légumes pochés (courgettes, concombres), spiruline, vers congelés. Petites portions quotidiennes.
- Reproduction : Ovipare, facile en aquarium. Mâles avec barbillons, femelles sans. Œufs dans grottes, mâle garde les alevins. Eau propre cruciale.
