Overview

This collection presents eight articles by one of the most influential scholars of Florentine culture in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Originally published in French, their insights into the relationship between artistic creativity, social realities, and political intentions have had a profound effect on scholarship on Renaissance Italian literature, spectacle, and culture.

Michel Plaisance is professor emeritus from the University of Paris III - La Sorbonne Nouvelle, and is the founder of the Centre de Recherche Culture et société en Italie aux XVE, et XVIIE Siècles. His recent publications include L'Académie et le Prince: Culture et Politique à Florence au temps de Côme Ier et de François de Médicis (2004) and Antonfrancesco Grazzini dit Lasca (1505-1584). Écrire dans la Florence des Médicis (2005).

Nicole Carew-Reid received her doctorat in Italian Literature from the University of Paris VIII (Vincennes-Saint Denis) under the direction of Prof. Michel Plaisance. She is the author of Les fêtes florentines au temps de Lorenzo il Magnifico (1995) and is currently researching fifteenth-century Florentine women.

“Michel Plaisance was one of the first to make extensive use of unpublished chronicles in the Florentine library to study religious and secular public display. His articles will be of particular value to students and practicing researchers.”
Nerida Newbigin, University of Sydney

“Michel Plaisance has published some of the most innovative and influential scholarship in Italian studies of the past thirty-five years. His essays in English will have a tremendous impact on early modern studies across the disciplines.”

Fantastic soap for the dermatitis and eczema prone
You guyyyyysss, my hands have no dry, itchy spots right now. None. This is remarkable because before now I have for years had issues with eczema/contact dermatitis patches that have at times (aka: most times) been pretty unbearable. To say that I’m overjoyed to have found a natural soap that truly works for me is an understatement. When you use this, you can feel that it’s moisturizing your skin. It’s fantastic. If you haven’t tried it, do yourself a favor and get yourself a bar. I’m wondering now if I can use it on my entire body and to wash my hair. That’s probably a little overboard, but it’s that good and now that I’ve used it I suspect all my skin problems are contact dermatitis that could be solved by the right soap/shampoo.

Best I’ve found yet for facial psoriasis
Anyone who has facial psoriasis will tell you there are not a lot of products that you can put on your face without irritation or flareups. This soap is just what I needed. There are no irritating chemicals or perfumes in this soap. I have read other reviews that the soap does not last very long but there is a way to use it to make it last. First, I wet my face and then I wet my fingertips and rub my finger tips across the dry bar of soap and then lightly rub my face with my fingertips softening the plaques and then lightly wash with a soft cotton washcloth. It is not really moisturizing but not over drying either. I follow up with an organic vegetable-based glycerin oil to moisturize. This is the best product I have found yet.

Dries completely clear, no pilling/balling, does have fragrance
Style: Kids SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Lotion, Size: 3 Ounce (1 Pack) Mineral Sunscreen, Style: Kids SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Lotion, Size: 3 Ounce (1 Pack) Mineral Sunscreen
I use a ton of sunscreen, religiously, and this one, at SPF 50, caught my eye. I never heard of this brand before or tried any of their products. While I am not a kid, I often like to use kids' sunscreen because I find it to be more gentle. This is a mineral sunscreen with zinc oxide as the filter. Mineral sunscreens often leave a white cast but this one claims to dry completely clear - and I was curious to try this. Indeed, it dries completely clear! It absorbs amazingly and is a beautiful sunscreen for the face. It leaves a nice velvety glow when it dries - there is no oiliness and no shine. Even if you wear no makeup or products on top of it, you will look perfectly fine. I also tried layering it with multiple products, both under and over, and this sunscreen does not pill - which is another huge plus for me - as there is nothing worse than starting over when your sunscreen makes your face look like an odd mess. Overall, the performance of this sunscreen completely blew me away - this is one of the best sunscreens I've tried. A word of caution though - this sunscreen does have fragrance (and it is pretty heavily fragranced) so do keep this in mind if you are sensitive to fragrance in skincare.
