De oogst in Walker Bay voor Hamilton Russell

De druiven waar deze wijn van wordt gemaakt groeien in Walker Bay. Daar ontmoet de Atlantische Oceaan de Indische Oceaan, en de winden zijn er voelbaar het hele jaar door. Het zorgt voor de ideale omstandigheden voor pinot noir. De grond is steenachtig en rijk aan klei, waarmee die ook een steentje bijdragen. Tim Hamilton Russell is de grondlegger van het Zuid-Afrikaanse wijnhuis Hamilton Russell, dat sinds 1975 top-terroirwijnen produceert. Het is een van de meest zuidelijke wijndomeinen in Afrika net achter het oude vissersdorp Hermanus. Hij selecteerde twee druivenrassen waarvan hij verwachtte dat ze in de koele Walker Bay topkwaliteit zouden leveren. Iets wat lijnrecht tegenover de keuze van de meeste andere nieuwwijnwereld-producenten staat. Zijn Chardonnay en Pinot Noir zijn inmiddels wereldberoemd. Zijn zoon Anthony nam in 1991 het bedrijf over en besteedde veel aandacht aan bodemonderzoek. Uiteindelijke werd 52 hectare grond met een kleirijke bodem met schist, leisteen, kalk en veel stenen het beste bevonden. De aanplant van chardonnay en pinot noir werd dan ook beperkt tot land met dit bodemtype. Door de kleine opbrengsten, hoge kwaliteit en wereldwijde vraag zijn deze wijnen altijd zeer beperkt verkrijgbaar.

Vol en zeer krachtig deze Hamilton Russell Pinot Noir

Deze pinot noir wordt negen maanden op vat gerijpt, daarna ondergaat hij een malolactische fermentatie. Hij is licht fruitig, zacht en zoet. Hij heeft een kruidig, complex fruitaroma, waarin hinten van zijn prachtige oorspronkelijke karakter tot uiting komen. Dat geeft de wijn een zekere geslotenheid, tannines en een langere afdronk om de kracht en zachtheid van deze Hamilton Russell Pinot Noir in evenwicht te brengen.

Fine Simple Product, Works as Advertised

Performs as advertised, a simple upright divider. I use it to mark my "office" space when working from home. Assembly was straightforward and well documented. One person can do it, but a second person can be helpful when sliding the fabric divider pieces onto their poles. Part quality is fine for the price point. The only mild annoyance is that the upright poles can start getting loose from the metal feet, and need to be retightened occasionally (Allen wrench is included, keep it handy for retightening). It's fairly lightweight and easy to reposition, but the feet are heavy enough to keep it steady once placed. All in all, a good product. I was pleased enough to buy a second one when my son wanted something to block sunlight from behind his computer desk.

Wobbly and Poor Design

Update: nope! Not worth the money. My cat simply brushed against the divider, and it fell, knocking breakable things over. Not safe! It serves it's purpose, but...the screws were basically glued to the packaging. It took me longer to get the screws out of the packaging than it did to put it together. The assembly was easy. I am not mechanically inclined by any means, but the instructions, despite being very hard to read (I have over 40 eyes), were pretty simple. Structurally, it is very wobbly. I think they should have designed it with a middle rod to keep it more stable. I find that the attachments to the rods are wobbly and should have been screwed rather than popped into an attachment hole without reinforcement. That would have also made the room divider more stable. I have cats, but the material is easy to clean. I took a damp cloth to it, and it came right off. As far as see-through...I think it does a great job of masking theO other side of the room.. I just wish it was a little longer and closer to the floor stand. I like that it came with extra parts. It's just a very cheaply made item, and I don't think the price for the item reflects how cheaply it is made, how wobbly and unstable it is, or the poor design.
