Beschrijving

De Amerikaanse USS Enterprise werd in 1938 door de US Navy officieel in dienst gesteld. De Enterprise was de enige van de drie Amerikaanse vliegkampschepen die voor de Tweede Wereldoorlog in de vaart waren genomen die de oorlog overleefde.  Het vliegdekschip verdiende 20 Battle Stars en was het schip met de meeste onderscheidingen van alle Amerikaanse schepen tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog.

De Enterprise was bij veel grote operaties en acties in de Grote Oceaan betrokken tijdens de oorlog zoals bij de aanval op Pearl Harbor, de Doolittle Raid, de Slag bij Midway, de Slag bij de Salomonseilanden, de Zeeslag bij Santa Cruz-eilanden, de Slag bij Rennell eiland, de Slag in de Filipijnenzee, de Slag in de Golf van Leyte, Iwo Jima en Okinawa.

Er konden maximaal 96 vliegtuigen aan boord worden gestationeerd. Enkele type toestellen die opereerde vanaf de USS Enterprise waren de Grumman F4F Wildcat, Douglas TBD-1 Devastator, Douglas SBD Dauntless, Grumman F6F Hellcat en Grumman TBF Avenger. Verder was het schip bewapend met diverse kanonnen, waaronder snelvuurkanonnen, quad-canons en multi-kanonnen.

Het vliegdekschip behoorde tot de Yorktown-klasse en de USS Enterprise (CV-6) was het 6e vliegdekschip van de US Navy. De voorgangers waren USS Langley (CV-1), USS Lexington (CV-2), USS Saratoga (CV-3) en de echte (niet-omgebouwde) geplande vliegkampschepen USS Ranger (CV-4) en zusterschip USS Yorktown (CV-5).

I looked a long time for a quality looking set for a budget price. I'm thankful that this is an option for the price range. Especially if you are on a budget, this is a good option. I know for the budget, you won't get the top-tier quality. However, when I got it, I wasn't too impressed by the quality. Though I'm thankful for the price, I felt this looked a little too cheap. The block was also far too flimsy. I was worried about removing and replacing the knives because the block "frayed" quite a bit. There were "crumbs" of block over the top that fell off the knife after you pulled it out. So I was very worried about touching the knife at all because I was worried about scratching or damaging the knives themselves. The knives themselves, though, I wasn't too worried about. They were the exact style I was looking for minus the color. I was looked for a more black or black-wash stainless steel like the ones I have now. I returned it the next day so I didn't try it out or take pictures. In the future, though, I'm now more willing to pay more for better quality.
