Overview: The Green Spotted Scat, also known as Scatophagus Argus, is a captivating freshwater fish revered for its vibrant green spotted pattern and lively demeanor. Originating from brackish waters in Southeast Asia, it boasts a striking appearance that adds vibrancy to any aquarium.

Origin: Indigenous to estuaries and coastal regions of Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, the Green Spotted Scat thrives in a semi-aggressive environment with a mix of fresh and saltwater.

Feeding: Omnivorous by nature, these Scats enjoy a varied diet, readily accepting flakes, pellets, live, and frozen foods. Their appetite for vegetation, supplemented with occasional meaty treats, ensures a balanced nutritional intake.

Tank Mates: Best suited for larger community tanks, Green Spotted Scats coexist well with similarly sized non-aggressive species such as Monos, Archerfish, and certain species of Gouramis. However, avoid housing them with smaller or timid tank mates due to their occasional territorial behavior.

Aggression: While generally peaceful, Green Spotted Scats can exhibit territorial behavior, especially when establishing their space within the aquarium. Provide ample hiding spots and space to reduce potential conflicts among tank mates.

Experience Level: Intermediate. Their need for brackish water conditions and occasional territoriality requires a moderate level of expertise in maintaining water parameters and managing tank dynamics.

Water Parameters: Optimal conditions include a pH range of 7.0-8.0, water temperature between 72-82°F (22-28°C), and a specific gravity of 1.005-1.010 to mimic their native brackish environment.

Funny and not too harsh
Format: Hardcover
This is a funny little book that even most religious people should be able to enjoy. It doesn't go too far in poking fun. A highlight is the peek inside Flanders' head where one can inspect the varioius compartments of his mind. --Guy P.
