Our Chevelle 1970 to 1972 13-Circuit Classic Update Series complete wire systems feature an easy to install design and allow for expandability for future growth & our wiring systems use only the highest quality wire and parts resulting in the ultimate wiring kit.

NOTE: If you have a Chevelle station wagon or an El Camino, you will need the 1968-1972 add-on kit in addition to the 70-72 Chevelle Classic Update kit. (some small modifications may be required for RHD conversions)

 The kit boasts 13 features making it the most complete system of its type in the industry including:

1.A replacement headlight switch with internal 30amp circuit breaker, retention collar nut, adjustable length shaft, and custom knob.

2.Standard turn signal and hazard flashers are mounted on fuse panel. A new horn relay is mounted on the main dash harness.

3.Fuse box designed to fit in original location. All required hardware supplied. New ATO fuse panel allows for easy fuse and circuit breaker accessibility. Harness is laid out and formed to allow for nearly all after-market accessories such as gauge packages, wiper systems, heat and air conditioning systems, etc.

4.Original switch connector bodies - an American Autowire exclusive feature

5.Steering column connectors can plug directly into most aftermarket steering columns or stock 1970-72 GM columns that use stock GM turn signal switches.

6.Separate under dash courtesy lamps for use along with your original dome/interior lighting.

7.Instrument Cluster wiring is designed with a "cluster harness disconnect" system for easy service and assembly. Original terminals and connectors (another American Autowire exclusive) are provided for stock cluster connections. The system will also connect into most popular aftermarket gauges such as AUTOMETER, CLASSIC INSTRUMENTS, DAKOTA DIGITAL, STEWART WARNER, VDO and others.

8.Rear body harness assembly plugs into the main harness in the stock location and our longer leads allow for stock or custom routing of the wires. Rear body wiring includes backup light lead wires with correct lamp sockets, stop and taillight lead wires with correct lamp sockets, terminals to mate with the license plate connection wire, side marker lead and ground wires with lamp sockets, and fuel tank sender wire with trunk grommet and tank connection.

9.New floor dimmer switch is provided for ease of installation. Wire length and connection accommodate original floor mount dimmer switch.

10.GM bulkhead connectors for the engine and front light wiring are included (another American Autowire exclusive) and allow for easy installation with original or custom routing.

11.Engine wiring includes connectors for original points type as well as H.E.I. distributors. Power and tach connectors supplied for GM H.E.I. distributors. Alternator connectors are supplied for GM "SI" series internally regulated alternators. GM "CS" series alternator adapter is available separately.

12.Front lighting includes extra-long leads that can be routed for stock or optional appearances. All headlight, parking and directional light connectors (lamp socket pigtails are also provided for 1971-72 applications) and terminals are provided along with a switched trigger wire for an electric fan relay (usually recommended with AC).

13.Original style light sockets, switch body connectors, terminals, etc. packed into every aspect of this harness help make it the most complete system of its type in the industry!

All Gotchas, Gimmicks, and Grief
My husband broke the item in question, which was a Chemex coffee maker made of nothing but glass. It shattered full of coffee, so like a normal human he cleaned up the dangerous mess and threw it away. I put in a claim, and it said that I had to ship back the product. Believing that the Asurion process was as simple as stated, and reading the agreement that does mention that sometimes they'll require shipment of the item, but that they will review cases and use reasonable judgment, I contacted their chat, explaining that the requirement that I mail them a wet pile of shards of glass soaked in coffee (and a little bit of blood) was unsafe and unreasonable. I don't even know how I could do that in a way that would be safe for the people opening the packaging, or even to take it to the store. The shards of glass might puncture any plastic, and the wetness would soak through, plus there's the biohazard issue. Seems silly for a $47 product replacement to me. I figured any human would understand. First chat associate closed my case without even responding to me. I had to reopen it. The second one told me, "Yes, that is how your warranty works" as an answer to my "Hello, the last chat closed without me talking to anyone." I tried to explain the situation, and was told "If you call the hotline, maybe they'll help you." I call the hotline. The first person tells me tough, I have to mail it. I say it was thrown away. He says "AHA then it's lost! Your warranty doesn't cover lost things!" I say no, it's not lost, it was disposed of properly as shards of glass should be. I finally ask can I speak to someone else or a supervisor. He lies and says yes. I sit on hold for 20 minutes, never any wait time or any sort of indicator of when someone will talk to me. The phone call quality finally gets very horribly staticky, so I hang up and try again. Hallelujah, I get a decent human being who immediately says, "Oh, no, that's not reasonable! That is an unsafe thing to have to mail. I'll send it to the override department who should approve this because it's obvious that's not a normal thing to expect." Today I get an email that says: We can't approve your claim. We reviewed your NO SUPPORTING MANUFACTURER COFFEE MAKER claim. The product in your claim is not covered by your plan. As a result, we're unable to approve your claim. Nothing about the requirement to mail a biohazard, just the item isn't covered even though the item is absolutely covered. While I understand that loss prevention is important, this is a very small potatoes return and it isn't like I made this up. It would be easy to make me happy. I'm sure it has cost them more money to deny it than they would have lost covering the Chemex. I've bought multiple of their product replacement policies before. I never will again. They didn't offer for me to send a picture or anything. They just wasted hours of my time and sent a clearly AI-based answer, rather than treating me like a valuable customer.
