Super Bloom 191 - Yucca in the City Periwinkle Skies / Spring FlingI'm always amazed when I see tropical places thriving in a city like London. Whenever I pass by the Yucca plant that inspired this in my neighborhood, I start thinking of tropical vacations and the blooming plants in my parent's yard that thrive under sunny skies. This is a hand painted piece I create this by painting directly onto a silkscreen and transferring the image to the paper beneath using a squeegee. What I love about it are the imperfections

I'm always amazed when I see tropical places thriving in a city like London.  Whenever I pass by the Yucca plant that inspired this in my neighborhood, I start thinking of tropical vacations and the blooming plants in my parent's yard that thrive under sunny skies.

This is a hand painted piece ... I create this by painting directly onto a silkscreen and transferring the image to the paper beneath using a squeegee.  What I love about it are the imperfections and unexpected marks that occur by using this process, called a mono print (just one!)  I work out of a collective studio in East London called Print Club London.

The Light Bright Collection is a collection that looks at the idea of bright pops of color against darkness.  As a kid, I was fascinated by the kid's game of the same name that lit up in a futuristic way.  That same vibe was felt when I would go to concerts and glow bracelets were adorned, appearing to light up as the overhead lights went down and the concert would soon start.  Nowadays I see flashes of neon on the city streets.  A glowing reminder to look on the bright side.

I do my best to capture the true colors of this original, but please note that colors may appear differently on your screen.

Due to the nature of the painting and then the screen printing process, there may be slight imperfections that are part of the charm of an original, hand made monoprint.

40 cm x 50 cm (approx 16" x 20") paper with the image taking up 32 cm x 41 cm (approx 13" x 16").  One off original monoprint on high quality, archival 300 GSM cotton paper.

Signed in pencil at the bottom right corner as well as on the back.

Fits perfectly in a standard 40 cm x 50 cm frame.  I like the "Ribba" by Ikea - it's easy to install and to hang quickly.

Is the Bible Really Unique?
Format: Kindle
Oswalt takes up the question of the uniqueness of the Christian Bible by focusing on the Old Testament (which is also the holy book of the Jews) and its similarities and differences to the myths of the periods in which it was put together. His comparison and contrast make for very interesting reading. He allows the two world views to stand alone, allowing the reader to understand his conclusions without forcing him/her to agree with the author. In reading this book, I also began to notice some very interesting parallels between the ancient worldview of "continuity" (versus the biblical view that Oswalt calls "transcendence") and some modern views being espoused in the Western world. Definitely worth a read whether or not you agree with him. It will help broaden your view both of your view and of the other side's view.

Good Core Content but I won't read it again
Format: Kindle
This book makes a strong stand for the position that the Bible does not fit within the genre of myth. That is the positive aspects of this work. However, this book at times seems somewhat philosophical, it can be hard to follow the author's logic, and it does not adequately cover one of the most fundamental questions the author poses. For example, the question of whether the theology of the Bible should receive special credence if the historical basis it rests on is found to be incorrect is asked, but the answer given is short and does not fully interact with the question which I found to be very disappointing.
