1987 S Eagle S$1 PF70 Ultra Cameo Signed John Mercanti

1987 S Proof American Silver Eagle Certified by NGC as PF70 Ultra Cameo. This coin is hand signed by John Mercanti himself (the 12th chief engraver and the designer of the reverse of the American Silver Eagle). “S” stands for San Francisco Mint. NGC’s encapsulation guarantees the coins PF70 (perfect 70) condition. What makes this coin so special is that it will be the last year the U.S. Mint is going to use John Mercanti’s design of the rendition of a heraldic eagle on the reverse of the silver eagle. Since 1986 (for 34 years) the U.S. Mint has struck the same design for the beloved American Silver Eagle. This is one of the #1 reasons why John Mercanti signed American silver eagles are so popular among collectors. This will be the last coin with John Mercanti’s reverse design including his signature. This coin is surely be a must for your John Mercanti Signed Silver Eagle Collection.

The American Silver Eagle is the official silver bullion coin of the United States first released November 24, 1986. American Silver eagles are only struck in the one-troy ounce size, which has a face value of one dollar and is guaranteed to contain one troy ounce of 99.9% pure silver. The Silver American Eagle coins were minted at the San Francisco Mint from 1986 – 1992. From 1993 – 2000 the coins were minted in the Philadelphia Mint. In 2001 the Silver Eagle production moved to West Point where the minting is still done today. Adolph A. Weinman designed the obverse known as The Walking Liberty and John Mercanti designed the reverse.

John Mercanti was the 12th Chief Engraver of the United States Mint and designed the American Silver Eagle Reverse. The reverse design is John Mercanti’s rendition of the Heraldic Eagle with a shield grasping an olive branch with one talon and an arrow in the other. Above the eagle are thirteen stars that represent the original thirteen colonies. The eagle holds a banner with the motto ‘E PLURIBUS UNUM’ in its beak. ‘UNITED STATES OF AMERICA’ and ‘1 OZ FINE SILVER~ ONE DOLLAR’ are inscribed on this side along with John Mercanti’s initials.

Huge upgrade from using Eco-tank with sublimation ink.
Model: 500N STD
Wife has been using converted eco-tank printers for a few years with many struggles. The print quality and final result with the Sawgrass prints is a far higher quality and better result!

Good Prints for Sublimation
Model: 500N STD, Model: 500N STD
After years of using converted printers for sublimation, I finally decided to go with the Sawgrass printer, which is specifically designed for sublimation. The printer turned out to be very nice! I’m particularly happy about the Sawgrass customer service they provide. Follow-up. I ordered the SG500 printer bundle from Amazon, but unfortunately, the prints had visible grid lines. I promptly reached out to Sawgrass customer service, and after a few emails, they figured out that the printer I received was faulty. It was all resolved within a few hours, which was way faster than I had expected. They immediately sent me a replacement machine and the prints are absolutely beautiful for my sublimation projects. Sawgrass customer service is truly amazing! Over the past three months, I have been using the Sawgrass printer and have identified a shortcoming that I would like to share in my review. While the prints produced by the Sawgrass printer are satisfactory, they fall short of the quality achieved with a printer I previously used for several years. This printer required a conversion to sublimation printing. I have sent a note to Sawgrass inquiring about potential solutions to this issue a couple of months ago, but I have not yet received a response. This suggests that the company may not have a viable remedy. You be the judge. I followed Sawgrass recommendations and used the Sawgrass Print Utility, but no matter what changes I make, the converted printer seems to produce prints much more to my liking. Both of the book markers shown were sublimated at the same time. In the future, when I have an order to complete, I will be opting to use the more affordable printer that I converted.
