Friday, March 20th - 9am-4pm (1 hour break included)

Tablet weaving, also known as card weaving, is an ancient technique for creating strong, decorative bands rich in pattern and history. Found in cultures spanning from Iron Age Europe to Ancient Egypt, this method uses square tablets to manipulate warp threads—producing narrow, intricate textiles that are as beautiful as they are durable. Students will work on an individual project using a provided set of tablets and materials. You’ll learn how to read and follow tablet-weaving patterns, loom warping options, how to start and stop their weaving, and how to maintain even tension. While the focus is on technique and understanding pattern systems, you’ll leave with a woven sample that reflects your personal color choices. Looms and shuttles will be available for use during the class. There will be a selection of threads available to choose from. If you want to bring your own, please bring 2 oz each of three contrasting colors in Size #3 crochet thread or 8/4 carpet warp for the best experience. You will need a total of about 100 yds of yarn. Provided Materials: Looms and shuttles for use in class. Thread options and 20 tablets/cards for students to keep.

Materials Required:

Note taking materials, colored pens or pencils. Bowl, basket or lazy kate for use while warping. Scissors or thread snips. Students may bring their own inkle loom. Inklette looms are not suitable for this class.

An excellent addition to the library of books about the life of Churchill.
Format: Hardcover
Excellent story of Churchill's years in the wilderness, warning of the growing threat of Nazi Germany from 1932 to the early of the war. Thoroughly researched and well written, given the complexities of what was going on contemporaneously.

Just like the PBS series....
Format: Hardcover
This book is a step, or two, deeper into the 'wilderness years' than the PBS series by the same name. But frankly, the series, available on YouTube, is a better buy (it's free) for the money and quite entertaining due to its great casting with folks like Robert Hardy, Sian Phillips, and Eric Porter. But, if you're a reader, this book is worth the effort and cost.

Sooooo cute!!!
Format: Hardcover
I really enjoyed this story!! It shows that children are capable of great ideas and should be listened to! Also, that prejudice comes from all angles and that people will go to any lengths to prove their point, even if they do something wrong and malicious to prove it. Great children’s book and a book adults could definitely learn a thing or two from!! It was also much longer than I thought it would be which was a very nice surprise. Looking forward to the sequels!
