Six Questions Your Mr. Rooter Franchise Financial Model Must Answer

We built this financial model for a new franchise unit in a high growth area using detailed research on service-based operations. Key assumptions, including the $350,000 emergency repair revenue and the $13,900 monthly fixed overhead, are pre-populated and fully editable. This tool gives you a transparent look at the capital needed to scale a territory effectively.

When will the unit turn a profit?

The unit reaches profitability in Year 3 with a projected EBITDA of $43,000 after overcoming early losses. Estimating recurring revenue for residential plumbing business maintenance programs is key, as they grow from $120,000 to over $342,000 by Year 5. Profit follows the tech count, not just the calendar.

Boost Unit Profitability

  • Optimize technician billable hours
  • Upsell maintenance service plans
  • Minimize parts inventory shrinkage
[dynamic_pic9]

How much capital is required?

You need a total initial investment that covers $315,500 in primary CAPEX plus a significant cash buffer for the 26-month ramp-up. The largest outlays are the $150,000 service fleet and the $42,500 franchise fee. Cash is the oxygen that keeps your vans on the road.

Major Capital Uses

  • Service Vehicle Fleet: $150,000
  • Initial Franchise Fee: $42,500
  • Plumbing Tools: $40,000
[dynamic_pic10]

What is the return on investment?

Evaluating franchise investment feasibility shows an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 28% and a Return on Equity (ROE) of 0.09. This return on investment analysis indicates that while the payback period extends past Year 5, the Year 5 EBITDA of $445,000 offers strong long-term value. Patience pays the best dividends in home services.

Investment Metrics

  • Internal Rate of Return: 28%
  • Return on Equity: 0.09
  • Payback Period: 5+ Years

Where is the break-even point?

The monthly break-even point occurs in February 2028, 26 months after you start operations. This timeline is heavily influenced by the franchise unit operational overhead spreadsheet which tracks $13,900 in monthly fixed costs like rent and insurance. Volume is the only cure for high fixed costs.

Accelerate Break-Even

  • Secure property contracts early
  • Increase average job ticket
  • Optimize GPS dispatch routes
[dynamic_pic12]

What is the cash runway?

The lowest cash point hits in December 2028 at $576,000, requiring careful management of financial projections for property management service contracts. You must maintain enough liquidity to cover the $85,000 GM salary and growing technician payroll before the unit matures. Running out of cash is the only way to lose.

Protect Your Cash

  • Lease fleet vehicles initially
  • Phase equipment purchases
  • Tighten customer payment terms
[dynamic_pic13]

How do different scenarios look?

Comparing scenarios shows that a High case driven by strong local marketing can move EBITDA into the black much faster than the 26-month baseline. Profitability metrics for local service franchises vary wildly based on whether you hit your $80,000 Year 1 property contract targets. Execution is the difference between a hobby and a business.

Hit the High Case

  • Master local SEO rankings
  • Improve technician conversion rates
  • Drive repeat customer loyalty

Great Comic
Format: Kindle
Wolverine is one of my favorite Marvel characters. He encapsulates the paradox for young adolescent boys. He’s everything we wish to be, and at the same time, everything we would be terrified to be.

A huge book that gives you the hero's beginnings.
Format: Hardcover
I own several Marvel Omnibus collections (Captain America, Miller's Daredevil run, etc) but I have to say I think this one is the biggest in terms of thickness. This has a serious page count, and is definitely worth the money you spend on it for size alone. Those coming off the Wolverine movie and interested in more of his back-story will enjoy most of this. The stories here are not put together in chronological order of publication, but rather in chronological order of when it supposedly happened in his life. That being said, it's odd that Marvel chose to leave out "Origin", since that six-part story would have made an obvious choice for the beginning of this collection. Instead, we start out with a number of "Weapon X" stories that are supposed to set the stage for his creation into a weapon. The stories are not easy to follow for a casual read, however. You'll have to invest time reading dozens of dialogue balloons over the constantly-resting pose of Logan with wires coming out of him. Not the best start they could have hoped for, but I can see the logic of it. The Wolverine/Kitty Pryde miniseries is also here for some reason. I guess its inclusion into the collection is for completist purposes, but it's not that great. Eventually, you reach the Frank Miller Wolverine mini-series that started it all and paved the way for his solo series later on. If you've read that one, you know it's a classic as we get more back story into his Samurai/Ninja training past (and it's also rumored to be the basis for the second Wolverine solo film if it gets made). This leads into the first 10 issues of his solo series as we meet Logan's "Patch" identity, his weird black "facepaint mask" costume, and the dark dealings of Madripor. The colors here are rich and vibrant. Those who were disappointed with the washed-out look of the "Essentials" collection of Wolverine stuff will find nothing but happiness here. The price is reasonable for what you're getting here. Let me say again though that this is a MONSTER of a book, so you won't be carrying this around for a casual read at the coffee shop. This is more along the lines of a serious collector book than those Essential volumes.

A bloody walk down memory lane.
Format: Hardcover
This massive volume collects all of Wolverine's earliest stories from his very violent history. Instead of being collected chronologically in order of first appearance, this book tells Logan's painful story as it happened to him. Beginning with Marvel Comics Presents #1-10; we see the excruciating process that turned him into Weapon X. After that, it's his first appearance in Incredible Hulk #180-182. That's followed up by the classic 4-issue Chris Claremont/ Frank Miller miniseries, and X-Men #172-173. We also Kitty Pryde and Wolverine #1-6, Captain America annual 8, Spider-Man vs. Wolverine, Punisher War Journal 6-7 and Wolverine #1-10, amongst others. This book is currently out of print, so good luck finding a copy. If you track one down, expect to pay a pretty penny for it, as I did. As a Wolverine fan, however, this is a must-have collection

Excellent book
Came ASPA good thing to, I wanted to read vol 1 before vol 2 drops. This book doesn’t disappoint if your fan of X-men, Wolverine, or even the Hulk it includes almost everything about the character his origin story to his first appearance. Most marvel omnibus are thick books and for price I paid it did not let me down.
