Intended as the first in a series of online animated dramas, Scream of the Shalka (2003) was the first attempt to redefine Doctor Who for the 21st century. Produced by BBCi and written by Doctor Who novelist (and later scriptwriter on the revived series) Paul Cornell, it maintains a traditional feel while rethinking the roles of Doctor, companion and villain.

Richard E GrantÕs Doctor is characterised as aristocratic and aloof, drawing on models from the past such as Jon PertweeÕs third Doctor, Sherlock Holmes and even Dracula. The story, in which the Doctor must accept military assistance to foil an alien invasion beginning in an isolated English village, adheres to a venerable formula. Nevertheless, Scream of the Shalka anticipates its successor in perceptive ways Ð featuring a Doctor who is Ôan emotional islandÕ numbed by recent trauma, a companion who must choose between a predictable life with her boyfriend and the joys and dangers of travel with the Doctor, and a Master humiliated by the DoctorÕs duty of care.

A victim of timing as much as of its own flaws, Scream of the Shalka remains a fascinating glimpse into an alternative vision for Doctor Who.

This Black Archive volume publishes for the first time the detailed episode breakdown for Simon ClarkÕs ÔBlood of the RobotsÕ, originally commissioned to follow Scream of the Shalka as the second in BBCiÕs Doctor Who webcast series.

Good Fit, Fold Lines
5'9, around 125-130 pounds, and the Small fit me just fine. Adjuster strap provides a great range of... adjustment. Good waistcoat if you are looking for something quick and cheap. With it being cheap, however, the material suffers. Due to it being folded while in shipping, there are seem lines going down the sides of the waistcoat which make it poke out and look awkward.

Great vest for a great price!
This vest is more slim fitting, stylish, & flattering than many vests. It fits as expected, but it is adjustable in the back, so you do have some wiggle room to tighten & loosen it if you’re unsure about the size. My son wore this vest to homecoming. He is 5’ 10” & 150 lbs, & the size small was a good fit.

Great Quality Vest
Great quality vest versatile for all occasions. I personally felt it ran a bit tight (I ordered a large and felt like I was sucking in a bit the whole time) but I think an XL would have been too big. Overall impressed and happy with purchase.

BUTTONS LIKE A SMALLER SIZE. GOOD QUALITY.
DESIGN IS EXCELLENT. QUALITY IS FINE. I WEAR A LARGE, BUT THIS VEST, IN A LARGE, DID NOT ALLOW ME TO BUTTON ... AS IF IT IS A MEDIUM FIT. WILL RETURN, BUT IT IS A VERY GOOD VEST OTHERWISE.
