Lay My Burden Down: A Folk History of SlaveryIn the 1930's, the last decade when many men and women who were born under slavery and freed by the Emancipation Proclamation. still lived, the New Deal's Federal Writing Project made an extraordinary and important decision. It sent interviewers to ask these African American survivors: What does it mean to be free? Even more, how does it feel? "Does I remember much 'bout slavery times? Well, there is no way for me to disremember unless I die." B. A.
In the 1930's, the last decade when many men and women who were born under slavery and freed by the Emancipation Proclamation.still lived, the New Deal's Federal Writing Project made an extraordinary and important decision. It sent interviewers to ask these African-American survivors: What does it mean to be free? Even more, how does it feel?"Does I remember much 'bout slavery times? Well, there is no way for me to disremember unless I die."
B.A. Botkin compiled nearly three hundred of these narratives to create a rich, unvarnished portrait of lives lived half slave, half free. In it, people who experienced the seasonal rhythms of plantation life . . .who were eyewitnesses to Lincoln, Douglas, and Tubman . . .who had their conciousness shaped by bondage . . .and who felt the anguish of the lash have their memories brought to life again. Their voices reach out across the decades and teach us what they know -- our history and our legacy in their telling of an indelible truth.

Super comfy and stylish, I’ve never worn these styles of loafers however I’m glad I purchased these.

Stylish, Comfortable, and Great for Everyday Wear
Size: 11, Color: Grey
The Marc Joseph New York Men’s Edison Street shoes are a standout — stylish enough for work or a night out, but comfortable enough for daily wear. The hands-free technology makes them easy to slip on and off without sacrificing fit or support.
They have a polished, classic look that pairs well with both casual and dressier outfits, and the comfort level stayed high even after a full day on my feet.
Good quality, flattering design, and a versatile choice if you want shoes that look sharp and feel great. Would recommend and buy again.

Just Slip On & Go
Size: 13, Color: Black/Black
These are honestly one of the easiest shoes I’ve owned. You just step in and go, no laces to deal with, but they still have that lace look which I like.
I’ve had them for close to a year and they’ve held up well. Comfortable enough for everyday use.
I liked them enough and got a few different versions of the same shoe. The elastic fit is what makes them stand out. If you want something simple, comfortable, and still a little dressy, these are solid.
