Frequently Asked Questions
ProGuard or Ultra-Slim — which Pitaka case do I want?
ProGuard adds a TPU bumper around the aramid shell for serious drop protection (MIL-STD 810H) and an aluminium camera ring. Ultra-Slim is the minimal version — thinner, lighter, less drop protection. Pick ProGuard if you drop your phone or work in rough environments; pick Ultra-Slim if you want minimum bulk.
Will the woven pattern wear off?
No. The Sunset Moment pattern is woven directly into the aramid fibers using Pitaka's Fusion Weaving — it's not a print or coating. The colours are part of the fiber itself, so they can't peel, scratch off, or fade with UV exposure.
How does it compare to a Spigen Tough Armor or similar rugged case?
Different philosophy. Tough Armor cases are bulkier and rely on thick TPU + PC layers for drop absorption. ProGuard achieves similar drop ratings with much thinner aramid fiber + TPU — you get better protection-to-bulk ratio, with a more premium aesthetic. Trade-off: ProGuard costs more.
Does MagSafe work?
Yes. The magnet array is built into the case with proper MagSafe alignment and strength. Chargers, wallets, and mounts snap on as expected.
Is the aluminium camera ring loud or rattle?
No. The ring is bonded to the case body during manufacturing — it's a single integrated piece, not a separate add-on. No rattle, no creaking, even after extended use.

Great debut from Kodama Tales

Quality wise the book is top notch. The paper is thick with basically zero bleed through, and on top of that the color pages are included as well. As this is my first time reading Baki I can't give a comment on the wider story, but what's contained in this volume is some solid dumb fun.

I've faithfully followed Living the Line's Smudge manga releases up to this. Actually I had this one preordered for ages but Amazon never shipped it to me and I only noticed it was in stock by chance. I had to cancel and reorder it. What the heck, Amazon?
Anyhow, it's definitely a horror story but also a species of superhero story, or at least a person-with-superpowers story, without the encumbrances of lore, heavy character- or world-building, a continuing narrative in a shared universe, or anything else. There's really nothing you could call a plot. Stripped down and even rough as it is, it's utterly engrossing, surreal reading for me.
A lot of my manga reading is horror but I've also been enjoying superhero manga like this or, for example, Hikari-Man FAR more than anything from the Big Two because of the greater freedom the Japanese works exhibit in how they conceptualize power(s) and heroism.
