Big Al by Clara Mitchell Carter 1887 Framed Canvas Print"Big Al," painted in 1887, is just about life sized. Clara was born to a family who were early settlers in Daytona. She married William Carter, whose family settled Palmetto Point(Holly Hill). Together they published the Halifax Journal (Now the Daytona Beach News Journal). Although not a professional artist, Clara was a very competent oil painter. She died in Holly Hill in 1935 and (we suspect) was buried at Pinewood Cemetery, about 10 miles from
