Das GPS160 unterstützt GPS, Glonass und Galileo Positionierung. Wir verwenden unsere TriNav-Technologie, um Signale aus allen drei Systemen zu kombinieren. Dadurch kann man die bestmögliche Fixgenauigkeit und Zuverlässigkeit berechnen. Die TriNav-Technologie ermöglicht die gleichzeitige Nutzung aller drei Systeme für die Navigation. Außerdem kann man das Gerät für eine Vielzahl von Modi wie einzelne GNSS-Operationen (z.B. Galileo) sowie Ausgabekonfigurationen wie Aktualisierungsrate, NMEA-Satzstruktur usw. vor Ort programmieren.

Das GPS160 ist mit einem NMEA 0183 Ausgang (4800, 38400 und 115200 baud programmierbar) und einer USB-Variante für PC, MAC und Linux erhältlich. Darüber hinaus ist für NMEA 2000-Systeme ein Paket mit iKonvert erhältlich. Dieses ermöglicht eine einfache und flexible NMEA 2000-Installation ohne umständliche Fallkabel.

Dazu unterstützt das GPS160 einen externen MOB-Schalter oder ein externes Gerät. Bei Aktivierung wird eine “synthetierte” AIS SART MOB-Nachricht am NMEA-Ausgang erstellt, mit MOB-Identifikation mit einem lokalen Plotter.

Galileo

Galileo ist das neue globale Satellitenpositionierungssystem (GNSS), das in den letzten zwei Jahrzehnten von der EU entwickelt wurde. Es ergänzt die Systeme GPS und GLONASS und bietet Seefahrern eine dritte, zuverlässige Quelle für die Positionsbestimmung.

Derzeit gibt es 22 funktionstüchtige Satelliten (die betriebsbereit sind und zur Bereitstellung des Dienstes beitragen), 2 Satelliten befinden sich im “Test” und 2 weitere sind als nicht verfügbar markiert. Das endgültige System soll bis 2024 eingesetzt werden und wird 30 Satelliten umfassen (24 operative und 6 Ersatzsatelliten).

Oktober 2023 – Neue Eigenschaften: Alle GPS160-Modelle sind jetzt mit einem neuen GNSS-Modul ausgestattet, das mit der QuadNav-Technologie kompatibel ist. Diese Modelle sind mit den chinesischen Beidou-Satelliten (sowie GPS, Glonas und Galileo) kompatibel, was bedeutet, dass alle Berechnungen von Position, Kurs und Geschwindigkeit jetzt die stärksten Satellitensignale aus einem Netzwerk von mehr als 100 Satelliten nutzen. Dies verbessert die Zeit bis zur ersten Position, die Leistung gegenüber Störungen, Spoofing und Unterbrechungen sowie den Stromverbrauch (<25 mA).

Great for use in Italy!
We spent 3 weeks in Italy in May of 2023. This was so easy to use for making sure all of our cell phones and power bricks were fully charged for the next day of discovery while in Italy. Plugged in effortlessly everywhere we stayed in Italy. We used all the charging ports and the USA outlets for two dual voltage power packs (remember the Italian grid is 240VAC not 120VAC like in USA) and my dual voltage CPAP power brick. No problems any where - it worked flawlessly. I would not suggest using it for curling irons or blow dryers or any very high wattage devices and anything you plug into it that does not say dual voltage on the device may be destroyed and possible catch fire! So do be aware of what you use with it as it does not drop the voltage to 120VAC from the 240VAC Italian wall outlets. Nice feature is that it comes with an adapter you can use when you get back to USA so you can use it at home till you pack your bags for the next trip!
