Am 2. Mai 1947 startete in Genf zum ersten Mal ein Passagierflug der Swissair nach Amerika. Stolz feierte man den fünfzigsten Jahrestag dieser ersten Atlantik-Überquerung, an dem man ihn am 2. Mai 1997 mit einer DC-4 auf der historischen Route und in historischer Swissair-Bemalung wiederholte. Dafür mieteten die Schweizer eine DC-4 nebst Crew von der South African Airways Museum Society. 2022 jährt sich der erste Transatlantikflug der Swissair zum 75. Mal. Aus diesem Anlass bringt Herpa die DC-4, mit der Swissair das Jubiläum zum fünfzigsten Jahrestag ihres ersten Transatlantikflugs feierte, im Maßstab 1:200 heraus.
